40 Years On (Class of 1984–1988)
24 June 2024
On the weekend of 21 – 22 June, we had the pleasure of hosting the Class of 1984 – 1988 reunion at St Andrew’s College. We were delighted to welcome back 37 Old Collegians, along with their partners, for this special occasion.
Our guests travelled from various parts of New Zealand, Australia and Fiji. For many, this was a nostalgic return to the College after a long hiatus since their departure in 1988.
The reunion provided a wonderful opportunity for our Old Boys to reminisce about their time at the College and to rekindle friendships. The Cocktail Party included former teachers Stan Wilson, Mike Woodlock, Joe Leota, Rex Livingstone, and John Irving, who shared fond memories of their time with the students.
The dinner on Saturday evening was a highlight of the event. Our MC, Andrew Bates, set the tone of the evening with some humorous anecdotes, followed by an emotional Toast to Absent Friends by Phil Nevell. Hugh Henderson, the Head Boy of 1988, gave a stirring and reminiscent tribute to the College. Rector, Christine Leighton, also shared insights from her tenure at the College. Mick Sidey took the microphone to lead the group in a hearty performance of the College Song.
Thank you to all those who were able to join us for this successful reunion. Your presence truly made this event a memorable one. We look forward to welcoming you back to St Andrew’s College in 2034.
