Your Enrolment Journey

Te Ara Whakauru

All enrolment applications are welcomed at St Andrew’s College. There is high demand for places, and wait lists in some year groups, so we do encourage you to express your enrolment interest early to avoid disappointment.

Applications for the Pre-school, Preparatory School, Middle School and Senior College are accepted year-round. Applications to study at Year 9 level must be made by end of Term 1 in the previous year. All applications received before this deadline will be considered. Pre-enrolment does not constitute acceptance; however, it allows us to keep you up to date with important events such as Open Days and Information Evenings you may wish to attend.

Enrolment Steps

The step-by-step enrolment information for the St Andrew's College Pre-school, Preparatory and Secondary Schools, and for International students can be found below.

  • Secondary School | Years 9–13

Applications to study at Years 9–13 are accepted all year round. However, please note that applications for Year 9 students for the following year close in April of the previous year. All applications received before this deadline will be considered.

    1. Start the enrolment process by completing the appropriate application form and paying a non-refundable application fee of $150.

    2. Upon receipt of your application, your details will be loaded into our database, to ensure you receive important information as the process progresses.

    3. We will contact prospective students to request copies of academic reports from previous schools and a short video submission introducing themselves.

    4. You will be considered for an interview once all application paperwork has been reviewed. All students new to St Andrew's (those who did not attend the St Andrew’s Preparatory School) and children of Old Collegians will be considered for an interview. If your child is a sibling of a current or past student, interviews are optional. This interview is an opportunity for us to learn more about your child, and for your family to learn more about St Andrew’s. The atmosphere at this interview is relaxed and informal.

    5. If the application is successful, we will make a formal offer of enrolment. If the application is unsuccessful at this time, your child will be offered a place on our waitlist.

    6. As part of your offer, you will be given a clear Acceptance Date, by which time a non-refundable acceptance fee of $500 is payable, which includes the student's life membership of the Old Collegian Association, plus a non-refundable bond of $1000 which will be credited to your first College account when the first tuition charge is made.

    7. If your child is entering Year 9 and their enrolment is confirmed, they will be asked to sit a placement test in July. Results of this test, along with academic achievements at previous schools, will determine their core curriculum classes when they join us the following year.

Please note, applicants for Year 9 are selected for enrolment based on the contribution the student can make to the College environment, and the extent to which the College can support the student to be their best.  We will also take into account familial ties with the College and give special consideration to the following groups for applications received within the publicised time period:

    1. Current St Andrew's College Year 8 students.

    2. Siblings of current St Andrew's College students.

    3. Siblings of past St Andrew's College students.

    4. Children of former St Andrew's College students.

  • Preparatory School | Years 1–8

In most years, and at most year levels, the number of applicants for our Preparatory School exceeds the spaces available. When this occurs, applicants are ranked in order of applying and those not immediately successful are wait-listed. Please note, siblings have priority for placement. To avoid disappointment, we recommend you apply as early as possible, at least two years prior to the intended starting date, although we will receive applications at any time. Most children are accepted during Term 2 (late April – early July) of the year prior to starting.

    1. Start the enrolment process by completing the appropriate application form and paying an application fee of $150.

    2. Upon receipt of your application, your details will be loaded into our database, to ensure you receive important information as the process progresses.

    3. Interviews and/or school visits are part of our enrolment process across all year groups. Pre-school visits are undertaken for all New Entrants. The enrolment process for Year 7 also includes a literacy assessment. Please book a tour using the online system by clicking here.

    4. For children with extra learning needs, we require a copy of any existing cognitive / psychological / educational / SLD assessments sent to us at the time of submitting your child’s latest school report, or at the interview / assessment stage, but before an enrolment offer is made.

    5. If an offer of enrolment is made, we will ask you to confirm acceptance with a non-refundable acceptance fee of $500, which includes the student's life membership of the Old Collegian Association, plus a non-refundable bond of $1000 which will be credited to your first College account when the first tuition charge is made.

    6. Preparatory School applications will roll over into Secondary College. Applications for Secondary College can also be brought forward to Preparatory School, there is no need to re-apply.

  • Pre-school | Ages 2–5

At the St Andrew's Pre-school, we know that it can be daunting to enrol your child in a new centre. Once you have decided that our Pre-school is the best childcare option for your child, please complete the enrolment procedure outlined below.

    1. Start the enrolment process by completing the appropriate application form and paying an application fee of $150. (If you decide to apply for a place in the Preparatory School, a separate application will need to be submitted. However, you will not be required to pay a second application fee. Please email prepenrol@stac.school.nz to have this fee waived).

    2. Upon receipt of your application, your details will be loaded into our database, to ensure you receive important information as the process progresses.

    3. You will be added to our waiting list and placements will be confirmed approximately two terms prior to your desired start date.

    4. Once placement is confirmed, we will ask you to confirm your enrolment details.

    5. You and your child will then be invited to join us for a pre-entry tour of the school and to meet members of staff.

  • International Students | Years 1–13

International or Foreign Fee Paying students must be offered a place at St Andrew’s College before applying for a student visa or permit, which will allow them to enter New Zealand. Please read all of the important information on the international section of this website before using the Foreign Fee Paying (International) Student application form to apply by clicking here.

    AEAS Testing
International applicants, for whom English is a second language, must sit an entrance test administered by AEAS. AEAS test results provide detail regarding the student’s English language proficiency and their general ability. The AEAS Report will be considered alongside other information provided by the family when reviewing the student’s application. AEAS Testing is available around the world, and students can register online. Alternatively, your agent will be able to assist you with the registration process. A copy of the student’s AEAS Report must be included with enrolment applications.

For further information about AEAS testing, please click here or email admin@aeas.com.au.
