10 Years On (2007–2011)
17 November 2021
On Thursday 11 November, we welcomed back 67 of our Year 13 Leavers from 10 years ago. This group had endured a tough final year at the College due to the February 2011 earthquake which not only caused major damage across Canterbury, but also severely impacted the usual routines of a student’s final year. However, this was a very resilient year group, and during Christine’s Address in the Centennial Chapel prior to the cocktail function, she reflected on the parallels the current Year 13 students of 2021 are facing due to the ongoing disturbances of COVID-19. For most of the group, it was their first time in the Centennial Chapel, and many commented on what a beautiful space it was. The Cocktail Party in Strowan House was a wonderful evening, with guests reuniting and reminiscing after 10 years. A particular highlight was the Earthquake Exhibition in Strowan House that brought back many memories for the returnees, marking a hugely significant year in their lives and one they will never forget.
