Sun Catcher
By Sheila Rance
This amazing book is about a girl named Maia who lives among the cliff dwellers with her father Tareth, the weaver. After they were saved from the ocean and granted permission to live there when Maia was a baby. On her 13th birthday, the wise old lady names her something that is as fiery as her flaming red hair: something Tareth was trying to avoid. Maia now has massive amounts of power in her hands. Secrets are revealed, unexpected friends are made and when disaster strikes, she knows it is time to fulfil what she was born to do.
I really like this book because it’s about friendship and overcoming your fears and the protagonist in this story is a strong female character. The character has to learn to accept herself and overcome the challenges the lie ahead. The only disappointment from this book is that some of the things that were talked about in the book she didn’t completely explain what they were.
I would recommend this book for anyone 11–14 years with a little bit of imagination and creativity.
