The Ten Thousand Doors of January
By Alix E. Harrow
January Scaller, a girl growing up in the early 1900s, is pulled into an adventure that allows her to discover her past and her future. This novel is a story of where doors can lead us, and how powerful words can be.
The style of writing in this book is beautiful. The author and narrator focus on the beauty of words themselves, rather than just what the words describe. I am not usually a fan of fantasy novels, but this novel has just the right mix of fantasy and reality.
I’ve been reminded of how beautiful words and storytelling can be.
Anyone with a passion for other worlds, imagination, and the power of words will love this book.
