Stewart Junior Centre exterior at StAC

The St Andrew’s College community celebrated a momentous occasion on the grand opening of the Stewart Junior Centre in 2018. This state-of-the-art facility, made possible through the generous contributions of the Stewart family, stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence in education.

The Stewart Junior Centre caters to our youngest students, aged 2–7 years old, from both the Pre-school and Junior School. Its key features include:

  • Design Excellence: The Stewart Junior Centre was meticulously designed by Wilkie and Bruce Architects, ensuring a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics. Its modern layout promotes creativity, collaboration, and active learning.

  • Seven New Junior Classrooms: These bright and spacious classrooms provide an ideal setting for young minds to explore, learn, and grow. Each room is equipped with cutting-edge technology and age-appropriate resources.

  • Discovery Room: The Discovery Room sparks curiosity and wonder. Here, students engage in hands-on activities, experiments, and imaginative play. It’s a place where learning comes alive.

  • Adjacent Pre-school: The Pre-school, though separate, shares a close connection with the Junior School. It provides a seamless transition for our littlest learners, ensuring continuity in their educational journey.

  • Vibrant Spaces: The colourful outdoor play areas, expertly designed by Jasmax, encourage children to explore, run, and play. From climbing structures to sensory gardens, these spaces encourage physical activity and social interaction.

Celebrating the Stewart Family

The Stewart family’s significant contribution made this project possible. Their dedication to education and community shines through in every corner of the Stewart Junior Centre. The official unveiling of the Centre by Dame Adrienne Stewart marked a historic moment. Her presence honoured the legacy of giving and community spirit.

During the opening ceremony, guests – including the Stewart family – gathered to celebrate. Morning tea, lively performances, and heartfelt speeches set the tone for this milestone event. As guests explored the buildings and grounds, the Junior and Pre-school children delighted in a mass bubble-blowing activity – a fitting celebration of new beginnings.
