Georgia Spark

Coming off a dairy farm, Georgia Spark has always been surrounded by hard work and animals. Agriculture was her favourite subject at St Andrew’s, and has set her up well for her tertiary studies at Lincoln University, where she is in the second year of a four-year Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree. She says there are many things that have come up at university she wouldn’t have understood without her knowledge from St Andrew’s.
Georgia says her Agriculture teachers at St Andrew’s were passionate about the subject, encouraged her to work hard, and were always available to have a chat and provide support. She particularly enjoyed the practical aspects of the Agriculture course, including the field trips which helped to expand her skills and knowledge.
She also appreciates the opportunities and connections outside of school she gained from the Agriculture programme.
Georgia’s degree at Lincoln University includes 28 weeks of practical on-farm work, which is giving her a taste of different farming types. She is keen to work on-farm after she graduates, most likely on a high-country station, working with sheep and beef and using horses and dogs for musters.
