Congratulations to the following students on their respective successes:

PIPE BAND
The Pipe Band enjoyed a sunny and relatively warm day at the Hororata Highland Games last Saturday, 10 November. It was very exciting to see our newest Pipe Band members having their first outing. In the solo events there were many pleasing performances from all of our students and our combined A and B bands won first place in the Juvenile grade.

VOLLEYBALL
Last weekend, a group of 40 Year 9–10 students competed at the Canterbury Junior Volleyball Championships. Junior A boys’ team finished fifth in Division 1, with some good wins over Burnside High School and Middle Grange School. The Junior A girls’ team fought hard to make the semi-finals in Division 1, finishing fourth overall. The teams are tracking well for the South Island Championships. We also had Year 9–10 teams competing in Division 2, which consisted of 16 teams. Both St Andrew’s teams made the semi-finals, finishing second and fourth overall. Congratulations also to Te Rina Cooper (Year 10) who was named in the tournament team.

ATHLETICS
On Monday, we had 58 Year 5–8 students compete at the Independent Zone Athletics sports. It was a brilliant day with many successes for our students. All students worked hard to compete to such a high standard and the results speak for themselves. Well done to all those students who placed and good luck to those who are now going through to compete at the Canterbury Primary School event in a couple of weeks.
