St Andrew’s has one of the largest school campuses in Christchurch with a spacious 13 hectares at the Papanui Road site. Students also enjoy facilities at the College’s mountain lodge at Castle Hill and at the College farm in Cave.

Our aim is to provide state-of-the-art facilities and resources that will carry the College confidently and successfully into its second century of existence. Over the last seven years there has been an ongoing investment in College facilities.

As we move towards our Centenary in 2017 the school has undergone a radical transformation, beginning with the rebuilding of the Alistair Sidey Mountain Lodge at Castle Hill in 2008. In 2009 we built a brand new Science and Mathematics Centre. The redevelopment of the Preparatory School, new boarding houses, a half-hockey turf, new netball and all-weather multi-purpose courts followed.

We have just opened our second Gymnasium and new Fitness Centre to support our sports and high performance programmes. The College’s new Centennial Chapel will open in September – a wonderful facility for chapel services, assemblies and community gatherings. Planned developments for a new Junior Department continue as does phase two of the Sports and Cultural Centre. This includes a major refurbishment and extension of the Theatre, including a drama classroom and improved backstage facilities.

Last year the Music Suite was rebuilt with a recording studio and custom-made acoustic panels. It has the finest collection of recording equipment of any school in New Zealand allowing music students of all ages to thrive. The new Dance Studio (completed in 2014) includes specialist ballet flooring, mirrors and barres, which supports a growing dance programme. The College’s professional television studio is another facility that students love, with the TV and Film Academy a popular co-curricular option.
